Florida SHINE (Serving Health Insurance Needs of Elders)
Florida's free, unbiased Medicare counseling program, run through the Department of Elder Affairs. Trained volunteers help with plan choices, bills and Extra Help. Call 1-800-963-5337.

The Area Agency on Aging for Hillsborough, Polk, Manatee, Highlands and Hardee counties. Its Elder Helpline, 1-800-963-5337, is the starting point for meals, in-home help, caregiver support and long-term care questions.

Hillsborough County senior centers
Hillsborough County Aging Services runs senior centers and dining sites, including Brandon, Town 'N Country, Lutz and Ruskin, with noon meals for adults 60 and older. Call 813-272-5250.

HART, HARTPlus and the Sunshine Line
HART buses cover Hillsborough County, and Medicare cardholders ride at a reduced fare. HARTPlus offers door-to-door rides for riders who qualify (813-254-4278), and the county Sunshine Line drives seniors to medical visits (813-272-7272).

Tampa General Hospital
The teaching hospital on Davis Islands and a Level I trauma center. Check that it is in network before you pick an Advantage plan.

St. Joseph's Hospital on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., AdventHealth Tampa on Fletcher Avenue and AdventHealth Carrollwood can sit in different plan networks.
